Learning to Speak Thai

Thai is a tonal language and it is very hard to learn to speak in Thai by just reading and annunciating it yourself. You really need to hear it and practice speaking it with people who can help you correct yourself.

So far there are a few Thai words that I have learn't and working on improving as I communicate with the locals.

Sawasdee Kaa - Hello or goodbye is one of the first words I learn't along with performing the wai which is a form of greeting.

I have also learnt some basic food words such as:

Naam - water
Gai - Chicken
Shrimp - Noong
Rice - Kaau
Fried rice - Kaau pad
Egg - Kai
Fish - Bplah
Fruit - Polamai
Juice - Naam Polamai

Some courteous words I have learnt are:
Thank you - Korb koon Kaa
Thank you very much - Korb koon maak kaa
Sorry - kor tod kaa

Some directional words:
Turn left - Leauw saai
Turn right - Leauw kwaa
go straight - dtrong pai
Go - Pai
Stop - Jord

This is going to be interesting! I am excited to learn more thai words :D
